AFS-3 is a distributed file system designed for scalability and global availability. It operates using a collection of built on top of the Rx protocol. Because many of these services—including the file server, callback manager, and volume management server—listen on predictable ports (7000–7009), they are frequent targets for network scanning and enumeration.
