President Ulysses S. Grant informs the two that several of America's top scientists have been kidnapped and orders them to join forces to find them. On the way, the two discover the body of one of the scientists, who has been decapitated by a "saw-blade" thrown by a mechanical device.

The film stars Will Smith (who had previously collaborated with Sonnenfeld on Men in Black) and Kevin Kline as two U.S. Secret Service agents who work together to protect U.S. President Ulysses S.
